Brief of the competition.

The NSE Investment Challenge is an annual online competition which is a simulation of the activities that happen around trading in securities (Bonds & Stocks) listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). Each participating team gets Ksh 3 million virtual startup capital to trade with using live data from NSE during the competition period. They are mentored & judged by selected stock brokers and investment advisors.

Target Group.

Participants should be any university, college or polytechnic student in Kenya

Judging Criteria

Overall Winners will be determined at the end of the competition period. The winning portfolios will be evaluated by an audit panel of judges from the Nairobi Securities Exchange and selected industry practitioners. Judges will use a weighted average method of tallying the winning portfolio as follows:
• 50% of the marks –Portfolio Value: For the highest profits on the last day of the competition.
• 30% of the marks -Teams own research. Reasons given for each trade made by the team during the competition.
• 20% of the marks – Online discussion forum participation of the team members.

Prizes.

• Cash prizes to buy shares of any listed company at the NSE.
• Internships will be offered to winners by the NSE, Smart Youth and other sponsors.
• Online Certificates.

Registration Requirements.

Participating teams can register as a minimum of 1 student and up to a maximum of 4 students.
